Is anesthesia safe?

All types of anesthesia come with inherent risks, and we have the expertise and skills to keep you safe during your anesthetic. As experienced CRNAs, we've seen much of what can go wrong ands therefore know how to avoid those things happening to you! During your procedure, we are carefully monitoring your breathing and heart to ensure we can intervene as needed to keep you safe. Prior to your procedure, we will review the risks associated with your specific anesthetic and answer all of your questions so you can feel confident and informed prior to your anesthesic.

What does the CRNA do during my procedure?

Our CRNAs will be with you from the beginning until the end of your procedure. On the day of your procedure, the CRNA will review your anesthetic plan, offer you options as appropriate, and perform a brief physical assessment as well as reviewing the risks and benefits of anesthesia. After this, the CRNA will help you get comfortable and apply appropriate monitors, some oxygen for you to breath, and start an intravenous catheter (IV). Your anesthesia medicine will go through this IV and the CRNA will carefully monitor your breathing and body systems to ensure you are safe and comfortable throughout your procedure. At the end of the procedure, the CRNA will allow you to gently wake up and monitor you until you are safe to go home.
